D. CHASE ANGIER – Associate Professor of Dance/Dance Program Director
Chase has been directing the dance program at Alfred University since 2002. She teaches Site Specific Art and Dance, Modern and Jazz dance, Dance History, Improvisation/Composition, Movement to Actors, Repertory, and directs the AU Dance Theater Company and the Marlin and Ginger Miller Dance Residency Program. Her creative research investigates the mixture of movement with other art forms through her collaboration with dynamic creative artists in Visual Art, Music and Theater. Her work has been performed internationally and nationally and includes dance, dance theater, performance art, and performed installation. She also co-choreographs/co-performs a series of duets with dance colleague Robert Bingham. This series is being performed in theaters, festivals, and universities throughout the East Coast and in Mexico.
Prior to coming to Alfred, Chase created dance theater works, performed and taught in New York City since 1988. In 1995, she founded Chase Dance Theater, a company comprised of dancers, actors, writers, musicians, and visual artists who whom she collaborated to create innovative works. Her dances have been performed nationally and reviewed as “intelligent entertainment”, “a comic romp” and “fine storytelling” by the New York Times and The Dance Insider. Her signature work, “Lemons for Loveliness”, was included in Dance Insider’s top fifty dance works. While in New York City, Chase toured nationally as a performer with Senta Driver’s dance company Harry and has performed and choreographed for MTV and Nickelodeon.
Chase was a Teaching Artist with the Lincoln Center Institute and The Joyce Theater’s Aesthetic Education Programs, and a movement instructor at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Her university teaching experience includes being an Assistant Professor at Columbia College and Appalachian State University, and a guest artist at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Appalachian State University, Columbia College, University of South Florida and Meredith College. She is the co-founder along with Jennifer Salk of the Green Mountain Dance Teachers Retreat in Woodstock Vermont and received her MFA in choreography from The Ohio State University and her BA in dance from UCLA.

No, I haven't heard from Veronica for ages. I'm glad/surprised to hear that she is having another baby and a PhD? Is she back in the states? I'd love to catch up w/ her.

We have not met but I have heard alot about you from Alena Giesche. She is a student of mine at Middlebury College. I may be coming to your area in a few years, my husband is looking at graduate school at Alfred.
I also see that you run a retreat in Woodstock, VT, right down the road from us. We should talk, I would love to hear about it.
